Where Injuries Have Reshaped the Picture
11. Victoria Mboko (CAN) — 2,393 points This is the clearest case of an injury derailing a Finals run. Mboko has not played since her MCL injury at Queen’s Club in June, her position in the Race has steadily eroded, and she is not scheduled to play again before Beijing. Before the injury she had already reached three finals this season. With the points gap now significant and no return date set, WTA’s own assessment is that qualification is unlikely — the priority instead is returning healthy for 2027.
7. Karolina Muchova (CZE) — 4,400 points Not out, but not fully healthy either: Muchova’s procedure cost her Toronto and Cincinnati, freezing her point total while Noskova and Kostyuk continued playing. She holds the No. 7 spot for now but will need a strong Asian swing to keep it.
